Construction

Construction projects are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their scope and complexity, both in terms of the work itself and the contractual arrangements between the parties. We understand these complexities and provide flexible construction insurance that meets the needs of the following types of clients.
  • Contractors
  • Manufacturers
  • Property developers
  • Public utilities
  • Independent power producers
  • Financiers and lenders

We are a recognised leader in the provision of insurance within the global construction sector. Our portfolio includes risks in heavy industries worldwide such as power, oil, petrochemical and gas, cement, pulp and paper, iron and steel in addition to underwriting a substantial number of UK contractors and building projects.

We have a long established history of underwriting, engineering and claims experience as well as one of the largest capacities in the market. We provide comprehensive coverages for both construction projects with structures of a concrete and static nature, and erection projects where the greatest contract exposures lie with heavy machinery and equipment. We offer bespoke policy wordings in the following lines:

  • Contractors/construction all risk
  • Engineering/erection all risk
  • All risks on operational power generation/utilities
  • Cradle to grave cover for large project risks
  • Boiler explosion and machinery breakdown
  • Business interruption
  • Advanced loss of profits

Our construction abilities are specifically geared to insurance protection for building projects, rather than those of a predominantly civil engineering nature. The growth of “build and operate” schemes and private financing has also increased the requirement to insure advanced loss of profits which provides cover against loss of anticipated revenue through delay in completion of the project.

Brokers requiring further information or discussion of specific projects should telephone our Technical Lines Underwriters on +44(0)20 7173 7000
